Our Story

Our story began more than 30 years ago in the mountains of Nyanga, where our family’s love for wild places, adventure and genuine African hospitality first took root. What started as a life closely connected to the forests, rivers and communities of Zimbabwe’s Eastern Highlands has grown into Far and Wide Africa—a collection of experiences created to help others reconnect with nature. From the Turaco Trail and SkyDeck Mountain Retreat to our conservation and community initiatives, everything we do carries the spirit of the mountains we call home. Today, that journey has taken us beyond Nyanga to the shores of Mozambique, where Bazaruto Sands brings the same sense of place and purpose to the warm waters of the Indian Ocean. Though our horizons have widened, our heart remains unchanged: to share Africa’s extraordinary landscapes with care, authenticity and a deep respect for its people.
